Warning Lights
The dashboard keeps you informed about the health of your vehicle which essentially self-diagnosis itself using internal computer systems that store codes in its memory, triggering a light to indicate what isn't working properly. Although the warning lights indicate a fault inside the vehicle's system, it doesn't pinpoint the exact item. A code reader or scan tool can help determine what part needs attention.
What can go wrong?
A warning light may appear without any advanced notice, even while driving. If the triggered sensor is flashing, something is seriously wrong and needs immediate attention by a service advisor.
What can you do?
Not all warning lights are universal so be sure to understand what each symbol means by looking through your owner's manual. By doing so, this should help you establish whether or not a warning light needs immediate attention or if you can continue to your destination and get it checked by a professional at a later time. Never leave a warning light in hopes it will go away; prevent any internal damage to your vehicle by getting it diagnosed and serviced.
